What is manga & anime?

Manga
Manga are Japanese comics. One Piece is drawn in black and white and published one chapter at a time (15–20 pages), later collected into numbered volumes of about ten chapters each. One habit to learn: manga reads right to left — pages, panels, and speech bubbles all flow the opposite way from Western comics. It feels odd for about ten minutes, then becomes invisible.
Anime
Anime is Japanese animation — in this case, the TV adaptation of the manga, released as episodes. You can watch it with subtitles ("subbed") or with English voices ("dubbed"); both are official and both are fine. Purists argue; you shouldn't worry about it.
Chapters vs episodes
The two mediums move at different speeds — an episode usually covers about one chapter's worth of story, sometimes less. So "where you are" means something different on each track.
